sculpture and performance stills > Myth & Continent

Hamlin Park Field House, Chicago, 2011

"Myth and Continent" questions how we negotiate passivity and direct action in a society that is becoming increasingly restrictive in terms of both space and time. How is this restriction linked to emergent visual technologies, and how do both affect our relationships to our bodies and to our environment? The performance celebrates the miraculous human capacity for creative reinvention in response to almost any kind of constraint. Movement for the piece has been inspired by the repetitive pacing of zoo animals, romantic ideas about the landscape, road trips, road rage, office cubicle culture, and the voluntary confinement of spiritual seekers.
