My performances are preoccupied with power, and haunted by the ways it hides, while enforcing visibility on other bodies. The performers are bound by constraints (confined to a geometric diagram for most of “All We Can See from Here”, or driven by an unrelenting pace in “Buffer Overrun”) and at the same time, inundated by the mirages of capitalist ideology, in the form of illusions, secret codes, advertisements, swirling patterns and even a tilted floor. My artwork celebrates people’s creative responses to constraints, and marvels at the everyday heroism of human beings who to speak truth to power.
